Established in June 1978, Yashwantrao Mohite College is the first of the initial three institutes created by Bharati Vidyapeeth. Currently, the college is one of the constituent units of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University).
The Social Sciences Centre has been recognized as a nodal research centre for Ph.D. in Social Work and Sociology since 1995. The centre has been conducting a number of social work research studies and action research projects. The Centre conducts collaborative research studies for Local, State and National Government agencies.
